Try city kayaking, scuba diving and singing sea shanties at the Cork Harbor Festival this year

Cork Harbour’s biggest annual event is set to return this summer with an 11-day celebration of coastal life. The festival will feature over 50 events, taking place in 15 idyllic locations.

Opening the festival will be the infamous Ocean to City An Rás Mór, a long-distance rowing race that attracts hundreds of spectators each year, set to return after a two-year hiatus on dry land.

There will also be a plethora of family and free events to look forward to that aim to keep Corkonians active on the water and relishing in all that our beautiful harbor has to offer.

The festivities revolve around a range of activities including environment, water, heritage, art and song, and family.

You can get a free sailing lesson with the Royal Cork Yacht Club at Crosshaven; explore the city by kayak with Atlantic Sea Kayaking; sing a sea shanty at The Molgoggers Sea Shanty concert at Nano Nagle Place or try your hand at scuba diving at Robert’s Cove!

Also featured are birding events, maritime exhibits, tours of Spike Island, an aerial performance by Cork Circus Factory and a walking tour of Mahon and Blackrock with Councilor Kieran McCarthy.

And if all that’s not enough, you can end your days with a sunset kayaking trip from Lapp’s Quay to watch the sunlight wane on the river.

The Cork Harbor Festival 2022 will take place from June 3-13. Many events are free, but some require advance reservations. Discover the complete program of events on their website or download the festival program here.
