Dive Travel names Egypt # 2 scuba diving destination for 3rd year in a row

Egypt has been named the second best scuba diving destination for the third time in a row, according to the 2021 survey by Dive Travel magazine.

The magazine said Egypt retains the second place it has held every year since 2019.

He added that Egypt “took a stand with a significantly higher percentage of the vote than at any time in the past.”

“Out of a total of 108 different destinations – after being grouped into countries, that is – Egypt won just under 17% of the overall votes, more than half of Indonesia’s 30%. “, According to the magazine.

The magazine said Egypt’s success is remarkable given that before the pandemic, the country was still recovering from a massive drop in tourism over the previous four years.

“The success of the country in recent years is in part due to the exceptional loyalty of its visitors who, year after year, return to the diving hot spots of Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Dahab and Marsa Alam – as well as a wide range of excellent cruise itineraries – to dive into the deep blue of the Red Sea, ”he said.

“Egypt has a mix of everything from easy entry-level currents to advanced and difficult, weak currents to high energy drifts, from macro-creatures to pelagic visitors, all within walking distance of most countries. from continental Europe. “

He added that part of Egypt’s attraction is undoubtedly its ideal location – but only part, the rest is up to the environment and the well-oiled machine of his scuba diving business.

The winners of the 2021 DIVE Travel Awards are the result of a survey covering 108 different destinations, 245 cruise ships and nearly 750 different dive centers and resorts, the magazine explained.
